“Make a world where everyone knows…That peace and love are our only hope” Elisabeth—2005

Two scholarships, in the amount of $500 each, plus $250 for the recipient’s school for an anti-bullying initiative, will be awarded to one Grade 11, Thames Valley District School Board (TVDSB) student, and one Grade 11, London District Catholic School Board (LDCSB) student, who meet the following criteria:

1. Exceptional achievement in communicating and practicing bullying prevention within their school community.

2. Consistently strives to bring peace and unity to their school and the greater community.

3. Recognizes the difference between being a peace-keeper and a peace-maker, and actively works at being a
peace-maker.

4. Treats all individuals with respect, support, sensitivity, and compassion.

The scholarship recipients will be selected as follows:

1. Each Secondary School’s Awards Committee will select one student from their school in Grade 11 who best meets the criteria.

2. The attached Elisabeth Steel Reurink Peace Ambassador Scholarship Nomination Form will be completed by the committee, signed by the Principal of the school, and forwarded to: The London Anti-Bullying Coalition by Friday, May 10, 2013, Attention: Corina Morrison – via fax: 519-657-8128 OR via email: c.morrison@ody.ca .

3. Student nominees will prepare a 250-word essay stating why the scholarship is important and how they wish to see the $250 used at their school to eliminate bullying. This document will be submitted with the Elisabeth Steel Reurink Peace Ambassador Scholarship Nomination Form.

4. Student nominees will provide a Letter of Recommendation from a teacher, coach, or other community representative. This document will be submitted with the Elisabeth Steel Reurink Peace Ambassador Scholarship Nomination Form.

5. The London Anti-Bullying Coalition (LABC) will select one recipient from TVDSB and one recipient from LDCSB based on nominations received by the deadline. The decision of LABC will be final.

6. Winners will be notified by telephone by Thursday, May 16th, 2013.

7. Scholarship Awards will be given out on Sunday, May 26th, 2013, at the Elisabeth Steel Reurink Memorial Run 9:00—1:00., at TD Waterhouse Stadium, University of Western Ontario.
